the world is yours

recaprecaprecap

there’s something about being in constant transit that makes me feel like there is never an end destination. but there is. and its home even if its half a world away.

I’ll try my best to recap from where I last left, which was a mere five days ago, but which really feels like an entire month.

HIROSHIMA / KYOTO trip gets an individual post because it was just that awesome! :) look out for that post sooooon.

september 7

  • got my けたいでんわ! (cell phone)
  • had adventures learning how the JR lines work…and that going from Shin-Yokohama to Yokohama requires a transfer at Higashi-Kanagawa station [this was a lesson learned after two failed attempts at predicting which train to catch]
  • realized its a small world after all [backstory: met my summer roommate’s best friend who is also studying abroad at the same university (at the Shirokane/Tokyo campus!)]
  • met some tiiight international students and feasted on some amazing food, in our meet-and-greet partay!
  • made friends with another アメリカのがいじん!!! Spencer, from Hope University in Michigan, is a pretty tight dude and he even tagged along with us in our journey to get cell phones!
  • Yokohama exploring
  • Starbuckings…like I always do!

september 8

  • Helping two friends get the LAST TWO cell phones at Shin-Yokohama! (oh, how we loathe the bureaucracy that is がいじん cell phone purchasing in Japan)
  • more exploring of Shin-Yokohama…the overall conclusion: it’s very quaint, it’s very salaryman populated, and the JR station is HUGE!!!
  • headed back to Yokohama and got my FIRST CELL PHONE CHAIN!!!
  • explored inside the cute shops of Yokohama’s JOINUS! prettyprettypretty things galore
  • saw Auntie Carmen again! :) yay. she’s been my mom-away-from-mom in Japan.
